PotD: White Concrete on Black Tarmac

An image that exists for the simple reason of its graphic shapes, with no underlying narrative or commentary; an abstract, if you will, made of concrete, tarmac and a linked fence. I’d been stuck indoors nursing a back spasm for a couple of days and needed to get out, so wandered off round my ‘barrio’ with a camera. The Olympic stadium is just across the road and a four year refurbishment has recently been completed, bar a few remaining cosmetic touches. The new fence was one of the last pieces of the puzzle to go up and, against the freshly laid black tarmac, the white concrete monolith virtually hummed in anticipation of being photographed. I did the honours, with a manual focus to make sure the concrete surface rather than the fence was pin sharp, and a +0.7 exposure compensation to avoid the histogram reading from a mid-grey downwards. All post done in Capture One. Job done.
