PotD: Elemental Landscape

When you get high up on the Bolivian altiplano, the weather tends to happen right there in front of you, rather than up above. Throw in a bleak landscape and you end up with a rather imposing elemental force. The rains had been running late because of ‘El Niño’ but as the trip went on we started to see the rain clouds building up somewhere off in the distance. This was the closest they’d come so far, which I was secretly pleased about because I wasn’t looking forward to being driven in the pouring rain on some of those mountainside routes with the sheer drops. We’d stopped here to have a lounge in the natural thermal baths; there’s something rather special about sitting in hot water out in the open whilst nature puts on a spectacular show, especially when it happens to be Christmas day.
