PotD: Birds in an Urban Jungle

Birds

Sony A7RII : f/10@400th : ISO 640 : EV -0.3 : FE 55mm f/1.8

I thought this street art of birds in a jungle setting would go well with the previous ‘Photo of the Day’ involving the rhino. What I particularly like about the two of them is that they are made to fit so well into the environment where they are created. The rhino has the real trees in the foreground similar to the trees in its background; and here the artwork of the birds is also given a 3 dimensional perspective by the plants that are growing in the foreground. Since this container is to be found in the gardens of the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo in Lima, I expect that the landscape gardeners have purposefully trimmed the plants so that the bird in flight in the top left is nicely framed. The container may be tucked away in the back of the garden and used only for storage but this work of art is a fine argument for the case that life would be diminished if function were the only criterium for an object’s existence.
