PotD: An Adobe Wall in Cusco

Sony A7RII : f/4@640th : ISO 125 : EV -0.3 : FE 55mm f/1.8

It’s difficult to fully convey the texture and the detail visible in the hires version of this image of an adobe wall in a Cusco side street. The ‘roots’ have been made by the effect of rainwater trickling down the wall, with the mud from the wall leaving a brown trail as the rain stops and the water begins to dry. I can’t tell you how much pleasure I get from viewing this photograph and am looking forward to printing this big onto some beautiful matte paper. I could so easily have walked passed this spot without noticing the natural beauty created by time on what was otherwise just another adobe wall. If I were to try and remember, I would say that this would have been the third time I took this shortcut through the side streets and I definitely did not see the photo opportunity on either of the first two occasions. Thank goodness I had my eyes properly open at the end!
