A countdown of 100 images for the 100 days leading up to the 100th Year of Finland's independence

A beautiful, clear winter’s day here in Helsinki was calling out to me all day, tempting me to bunk off from my task in front of the computer selecting images from my latest shoot. I finally managed to get the selections done and off to the client as the last rays of sun were hitting the tops of the highest buildings. Even though it was barely 3 pm, I knew I wouldn’t get anywhere before sunset so I headed off to the southernmost point of Helsinki to watch the night roll slowly in. The sun may not be up for long during the winter but the arc of its trajectory is so gentle that you can stand there and watch the colours change to night ever so slowly. And the streak of cloud through the sky balanced the scene beautifully. A great way to start the end of a day.
