Finland 100: 54 – Katri Helena and Elvis

Popped into Cafe Regatta again the other day to take a well deserved break in the middle of a long walk with a young dog I’m looking after for a few days. I can’t believe how much energy it has; I’m wearing out the soles of my feet, let alone my shoes. The decor in this place is so wonderfully eclectic that there’s always something new that jumps out at me each time I visit. In the big wide world we all know who Elvis is but not many beyond Finland would know about Katri Helena. She released her first song in 1963, is the second-best-selling female soloist in Finland behind Madonna, and has represented Finland twice in the Eurovision song contest. I learnt all this whilst sitting there getting my breath back. The watercolour in the photo is of the cafe. The coffee and bun did the job, I headed back out into the snow…
