A countdown of 100 images for the 100 days leading up to the 100th Year of Finland's independence
I’m a little lost for words after the election result in America and am struggling to think beyond that. I remember how surprised I was when Scotland didn’t vote for independence after having being handed the opportunity on a plate; I was even more taken aback when Britain voted to leave the European Union; but seeing the result of the US presidential election unfold before my eyes has been the biggest shock. I used to like to think that I’m informed about stuff that goes on in the world, not any more. Just because something may be obvious to me and millions of others, it does not change the fact that there may be more people that think differently.
I took this photo yesterday in the Naughty BRGR restaurant, which must be doing some of the tastiest burgers in Helsinki right now. This ‘Coke Light’ hovers above one of the dining tables and I loved the way the blue daylight from outside contrasted with the tungsten of the bulbs. There are so many iconic things that have come out of America and this is my tribute to all that is great in Americana. About everything else, I obviously have no clue what’s going on nor what’s going to happen next but I shall try to keep an open mind.
