A countdown of 100 images for the 100 days leading up to the 100th Year of Finland's independence
When there’s a snowstorm going on, it’s not necessarily a bad decision to take the easy option and find a cosy spot indoors. Just to get this off my chest and without wishing to go on too much of a socio-political rant about Britain and it’s disintegrating relationship with Europe, I’d like to point out that this absolutely delicious English cider (Thatchers Vintage Oak Aged cider, to be precise), which is set invitingly down here on a table with the colours of the British flag, to be drunk in the Brazilian styled Favela bar in Helsinki’s Töölö district. The very-Finnish-but-with-a-modern-twist dish of moose meat sausages on a bed of barley and root vegetables, with forest mushrooms and lingonberries, was also very tasty. To all those who want to close down borders and live in some rose-tinted golden era that never existed, put that in your pipe and smoke it! It’s possible to champion what is best about your country in an inclusive multi-cultural environment. And only two more days till the American presidential elections! Lifts glass, has a sip, looks across the table to his beloved, begins to relax…
