A countdown of 100 images for the 100 days leading up to the 100th Year of Finland's independence
It’s the final weekend before xmas. Time to bring out the pastry dough, the cookie cutters from out the back of the cupboard, and turn the oven right up. A little bit of flour sprinkled on the counter, some heart and soul into the rolling, whack them into the oven and finish off with plenty of icing sugar once they’ve cooled down. I actually took this shot last weekend when there were three generations of my favourite ladies round the kitchen table, my daughter, my wife and my mother-in-law – Alisa, Anitta and Aila. And, yes, I know, that is a lot of identical vowels going on in those names. I’d like to say that’s were the similarities end but I can tell you from experience that they are all strong-willed, independent-minded individuals with piercing stares. Luckily, there was also a lot of heart round that table and I survived the matriarchal hegemony that exists here, at least in my part of Finland!
