Photo of the Day: Flower Shower
Sony A7RII : f/9@2000th : ISO 4000 : EV -1.3 : FE 55mm f/1.8
No, it isn’t raining, it’s just the sprinkler system coming on unexpectedly to provide a much needed flower shower, adding another element to the series of images I was gathering with the Sony FE 90mm Macro lens. The gardeners enjoyed my panicked retreat and I was thankful for the weather-proofing on the Sony system. A quick flick of the switch out of macro mode, (I’m not sure if I also remembered to switch off the Electronic First Curtain shutter, always a good idea when shooting at such fast shutter speeds), then I was ready to capture these globules of water not so much caressing but pummelling the roses into a frenzied dance. They looked a little excited!
UPDATE: Seeing the exif data up above, it would have helped if I’d maybe opened up a bit, just to lower the ISO by a couple of stops. I must have still been in extreme close-up thinking mode and just forgot in all the excitement. There is no reason why this couldn’t have been shot at say f/5.6
