A countdown of 100 images for the 100 days leading up to the 100th Year of Finland's independence

When the wind howls and the clouds are low, it may look bleak to some but to others it’s just an opportunity for a little bit of graphic realism. Again, I must have walked passed this spot a hundred times and never seen anything that caught my eye. On this occasion, the snow on the red of the word Scandic popped out at me and the rest just fell into place. I think I’m right in saying that Scandic Hotels are the largest hotel chain in Scandinavia; the fact that I can name five in Helsinki alone means that this is probably true. What I didn’t know is that they work hard to promote their efforts in ecological sustainability; for example, the breakfasts in all the Swedish Scandics have the KRAV organic ecolabel. Now we just need to get that set up over here!
