A countdown of 100 images for the 100 days leading up to the 100th Year of Finland's independence

An original greenhouse at the Botanical Gardens in Helsinki’s Kaisaniemi Park, still doing the work it was made to do, keeping the cold out, letting the light in. When you look closely, you can see a flower in bloom, dreaming of sunny tropical days, a world without walls and bars. Unfortunately, life is not always that simple and, sometimes, survival is the only option. Today is the day that I heard Leonard Cohen passed away and I’m sure he would have an existential line to suit the occasion. I do not. My sister introduced me to his work in my late teens and I am surprised at how affected I am by his parting. A sad day.
