Finland 100: 48 – Snowfall on Ice

A countdown of 100 images for the 100 days leading up to the 100th Year of Finland's independence
Fourth day in a row with plenty of snowfall and below freezing temperatures has thrown us straight into a proper winter here in Helsinki. As you can see, ice is already starting to form on the sea (those are buoys in the top left) and, even though it might look like it at quick glance, this is not a black and white photo. Loving the abstract shapes and swirls of grey that the various states of water are creating. It also felt good knowing that I was only a couple of hundred metres away from Cafe Regatta and that I’d soon be sipping coffee and munching on a cinnamon bun. Simple pleasures.
