The Spaces of Emptiness

These images, apart from the final one, were all taken during a short visit to Madrid in the summer of 2016, after my father suffered a severe stroke and had to leave his home of thirty years. In between the visits to the hospital, the sorting of his possessions and the arrangements for his new ‘living’ quarters, there was time to hide behind a camera. I was not aware then that I was documenting an emotional response.
